Reiki
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese-based touch therapy that promotes deep rest and stress release. Reiki is grounded in ancient practices and philosophies, and yet it is one of a growing body of therapies than can be understood through the modern scientific concept of mind/body healing.
During a session, the client relaxes, fully clothed, while the practitioner lightly places her hands in several positions along the client's body. The practitioner's hands direct the flow of energy into the meridians and other major centres of the body, gently nourishing the body's natural energy system and helping it to balance. This process evokes deep relaxation, helping the body to release stress and pain, which in turn supports: a balanced mental/emotional
state, physical ease and comfort, a more efficiently functioning immune system.
One way of understanding the positive effects of reiki is: all healthy cells of the body vibrate at a certain frequency; reiki helps the cells maintain that healthy frequency so that they can function optimally, supporting the body to heal itself and continue being well.
During your session, you might notice sensations such as heat, coolness, tingling, heavy limbs, "dreaming," increased body awareness, or a deeply relaxed state bordering on sleep.
